Many of us grew up in a system where criticism and shame were used to try to motivate change. We experience it in school, at home, and certainly in the media. And we often use it on ourselves, often without even being aware. Every time you have a thought such as “I’m too [fat, thin, old, young]” or “I’m not [smart, pretty, sexy, trendy] enough” – you’re pointing criticism inwards.
But there’s a problem. Using shame and criticism don’t motivate change. In fact, the latest brain research makes it clear that shame and criticism will actually shut down the very systems you’ll need if you want to engage truly powerful growth of any kind – including weight loss.
So what’s the answer? Join me as I interview Janette Dalgliesh, the Sweet Relief Coach (www.sweetreliefcoaching.com), for a whirlwind exploration of just what’s going on in your noggin as she busts out a few myths about self-love. She has opened the door to a radically upgraded life for many people and her best-selling book “Everyday Superpower” knocks it out of the park!
